I got to spend yesterday arvo with one of the most inspirational and intelligent ladies I ever had the pleasure of meeting. Lola Berry is an Australian TV nutritionist & author, health nerd & yoga teacher. She wrote her first book at the age of 22 and travels all around the world spreading her love of good food and health, inspiring others to have better everyday lives through her AMAZING recipes. I thought she was basically like the foodie version of Steve Irwin. She even brought me some of her rose cakes and pina colada cookies for the road, with unbelievably, no sugar, no wheat and no dairy! Munching on one right now as I type this - DELISH! Can’t wait for her cookbooks coming in the mail! Be sure to check her out, she’s one fabulous ladybug.. More of this passionate & beautiful lady on the website.. http://www.lilliwaters.com/Lola-Berry

This man is one of my friends and heroes. His name is Brett Adamson and he’s an Australian nurse who has been working for Doctors without Borders for over five years. Médecins Sans Frontières has taken him to the frontlines of medical crises in Ethiopia, Afghanistan, South Sudan and Lebanon, and most recently, the Ebola crisis in Liberia. This photo was taken on my rolleiflex a few months ago when we were lucky enough to have home safe for a few weeks, he stayed with us and we spent our time together cooking and laughing over stories and glasses of wine. When we skyped a few days ago, he explained just how shocking the Ebola situation is, but how he is determined to keep working hard, when sometimes there is hard to see any hope at all. One day I hope to be able to follow in his footsteps with my camera, and be just as fearless and selfless as he is. "My aim was always to work internationally and assist populations in need while exploring life in all its harshness. And as you grow and explore the world, turning statistics into realities and numbers into individuals, you see the reality is far worse than you ever could have imagined."
