I’ve been a busy little bee this winter fixing up my studio, and now it’s finally finished after many coats of paint! If you are looking for a beautiful window lit space to be creative in, e-mail me for rates. Richmond location. #castorandpolluxstudio

I’ve moved house recently. Coming to terms with a new environment and sleeping in a new room has made me wonder about what we call home. A place, a person, a city..

I spent eight days in New York and challenged myself by only going out with my Rolleiflex and a couple of rolls of film, leaving my digital camera behind. What stuck out to me, were the amount of homeless people on the street. Not just in New York, but all over the States and in Vancouver as well. I spotted a man without a jacket out in the cold having a fit on the ground, no one walking past stopped to help him up or even took notice. I took his arm and invited him into the coffee shop and bought him a warm drink and some food. The people surrounding us were staring at us as if we were aliens. He was so surprised and grateful that I had helped him, shaking my hand and thanking me as if I had just given him a million dollars. I wondered if there had been more I could have done to help him after he left. I walked outside, thinking maybe I could buy him a jacket and made sure he had somewhere to sleep for the night, but he was gone. I spent the rest of the day thinking about Christopher and where he may have wandered to, all alone. This series of photographs is dedicated to him and all of the people that are homeless in New York. http://www.lilliwaters.com/Christopher
